{"id":341,"date":"2021-02-02T18:34:42","date_gmt":"2021-02-02T17:34:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/amaguq.net\/labo.zone\/?page_id=341"},"modified":"2022-09-04T21:04:51","modified_gmt":"2022-09-04T19:04:51","slug":"jay-jordan","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/labo.zone\/index.php\/jay-jordan\/?lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Jay (formerly John) Jordan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As a teenager, JJ spent their time making super 8 films and developing photographs in a darkroom, by the 1980&#8217;s they were making performance art, in the tradition of <a href=\"https:\/\/labo.zone\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/performance-magazine-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">body art<\/a>, often causing <a href=\"https:\/\/labo.zone\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Daily-Star.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UK tabloid press outrage.<\/a>\u00a0 The nineties were filled with becoming a <a href=\"https:\/\/linktr.ee\/Earthnut\">father<\/a>, a seven year project exploring masculinity and its relationship to <a href=\"https:\/\/labo.zone\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/consuming-desire-scaled.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pornography <\/a> (via art, TV chat show interventions and therapy) and being Co-director of\u00a0 London&#8217;s Joseph Beuys inspired artivism organisation <a href=\"https:\/\/platformlondon.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Platform<\/a>, (1987 to 1994).<\/p>\n<p>They left Platform after discovering<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1K1rdS40WPk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> the joy of direct-action<\/a> and went on to co-found the anti-capitalist rave and direct action collective <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thirdtext.org\/domains\/thirdtext.com\/local\/media\/images\/medium\/Julia_Blanco_Reclaim_the_streets.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reclaim the Streets<\/a> (1995-2000). In 2004 JJ co-launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/dangerousminds.net\/comments\/send_in_the_clowns_the_clandestine_insurgent_rebel_clown_army_wants_you\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Clandestine Insurgent Rebel Clown Army<\/a>, which became a global protest meme (2004- ) but from which they soon went AWOL, when realising it was an aesthetic crime.<\/p>\n<p>Around the same time they deserted their job as <a href=\"https:\/\/labo.zone\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Times-Higher-Education.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">senior lecturer<\/a> in fine art at Sheffield Hallam University, to work as a cameraman for Naomi Klein\u2019s film <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/ondemand\/thetakedocumentary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Take<\/a>, shot during the Argentinian uprising.
