CRASH – A Postcapitalist A to Z

Arts Admin, London

2009

The first any one heard about C.R.A.S.H – A Postcapitalist A to Z, was during the G20 protests when 3000 postcapitalist badges appeared. Three months later in June 2009, we brought together permaculturists, activists, artists and young precarious /unemployed people to share skills for resistance and self-resilience. The experiment involved
– a two week free C.R.A.S.H Course linking art, activism and permaculture, culminating in C.R.A.S.H Contingency, an evening of disobedient performance actions devised and facilitated by the course participants.
– C.R.A.S.H Culture, a series of street interventions in London’s financial district. These ranged from the displaying of decapitated bankers heads to a bike powered kitchen cooking foraged city plants, a workshop making radio’s out of junk, postcapitalist bench plaques and the distribution of gold leaf soup to traders.
– C.R.A.S.H Conversations – three evening talks on art, activism and permaculture.
– 13 Attitudes a tool box of permaculture design was produced in collaboration with the design collective SKART
