Entangling Art, Activism and Ritual is a 9 + 1 session online course which invites participants to try and re-invent the all too familiar modes and codes of resistance, by exploring the space in-between art, activism and ritual, where the poetic, the pragmatic and the power of intentionality can create irresistible moments of rebellion.

At the Labofii, we consider that there is little difference between art, activism and magik. All three practices see imagination as tool to bend reality. All three know that where we focus our attention governs reality. In the end every political struggle is a battle of the imagination and storytelling, and the magick happens when things cease to be what they are and become what we want them to be.

In this course, we will look at applying creativity and magick to movements, how to always protest and propose in the same gesture, taking inspiration from the Zad of Notre-Dame-des-Landes (where the Labofii is based); we will explore contemporary life sciences that are reclaiming animism, delve into the collapse of dualisms and the queering of ‘nature’, and explore rituals as powerful tools of transformation and care, whilst trying to unlearn the toxic colonial logic that continues to stain our art and activism. Based on historical and contemporary case studies, somatic practices, games, readings, connection with the living and discussions, Entangling Art, Activism and Ritual, will attempt to hold us so that we can see that hope, like seeds, begins in the dark.

This course is open to artists, activists, organisers, engineers of the imagination, witches, change makers, shape shifters, or anyone who does not identify with such a label, but knows that the most powerful of places is in the betwixt and between, that special place where everything entangles.
