Designing Death Rites: Remaining ungovernable even after our passing

We are governed during so much of our daily life, and even in death it seems we are often forced to have funerals and rites of death that are not reflections of our former forms of life. What would happen if we were free to design ones that truly embodied our life and spirit, rites that were not hamstrung by laws we did not write ?

This workshop, which is itself highly ritualised, enables participants to reflect upon their own mortality without being paralysed by fear, contemplate and create their own ceremonies, to present them through a visualisation to the group. When possible, these projections are by a professional undertaker present, to find the cracks in the laws which might enable it to take place for real.

This workshop lasts one to two days.

Maximum number of participants: 15
